Restaino's Hatch Act Lie

Among the many lies peddled by my opponent, Robert Restaino, and Nick D'Angelo at the Niagara Falls Reporter over the last several months, is the claim that my candidacy for Mayor violates the Hatch Act.

While these claims have never had any validity whatsoever, the U.S. Office of Special Counsel was asked by an unnamed party to open an investigation into the matter. This investigation wasted taxpayer dollars on a ridiculous claim that would have easily been refuted by a review of the City’s finances by someone who understood them.

As we knew would be the case, the Office of Special Counsel found that my candidacy did not violate the Hatch Act. The decision also states:

“It was alleged that prior to announcing your candidacy for mayor in October 2018, your salary and job responsibilities were changed to avoid being subject to the Hatch Act’s candidacy prohibition. OSC’s investigation did not corroborate that allegation.”

Of course, in a last ditch effort to try to win this election, Mr. Restaino has chosen to again lie to the public about my record, rather than talk about the deficiencies in his own, or even to present a real policy platform.
